2. Reflect on your contributions and how you contributed to making your group a success?

I am very fortunate to have been a part of my group! I feel that I contributed by completing my part of each task and contributing my ideas to the group. From the beginning of the semester to the end, I have progressed thankfully because of my partners. I was able to create screenr presentations, use google blogger, and other web resources to integrate with teaching/learning. I tried my best to submit work ontime and add my ideas in as best as I could. Working together is what made our whole group work sucessfull.

Why is it important to use teams in PBL?

- I feel it is important to have more than one person that way we can learn team building and its not just one person who is repsonsible for one task.

What are some of the problems you see in student teams?

-lack of communication and other committments

What strategies can you use to manage conflict in student teams?

- communication. Call or email or somehow get in contact with your group and verbalize what is the problem then come up with solutions., If not then go to the teacher.

Did the group have any questions or problems this week?

- The ending of the semester is always more challenging because we're all cramming to catch up with other work from other classes but we just need to stay focused and stay involved in all tasks.

- I just kept up with my part as best as I could and i keep in contact with them if I needed help.

4. Did the group have any questions or problems this week?
- I think this week went by pretty smoothly, I just asked for clarification on my part. But Mel did  a good job on facilitating.

- my role was to find information and help my group put it together.

 - stayed in contact through our forums and email.

- We were okay, and I felt that there is always a little confusion as to what needs to be done. I think on my part, I get nervous because it sounds so foreign to me, but with the help of my group we get things done.

- I have contributed my ideas on authentic assessment.

3.    How did you encourage and support your team members this week?
- I feel I could have encouraged and supported my team more but due to a slight pregnancy issue I was not as focused though I tried my best in completing my part.

4.    Did the group have any questions or problems this week?
- We are just a little confused as the weeks go by. The tasks seem to be more complicated but in the end, I think we all pull it off.

Having completed this review of a web 2.0 tool would you use this tool in your classroom?
-  Yes I would use Youtube in my classroom. It features many different informational video sources that may be used for entertainment purposes as well as educational. 

Prior to this activity, how did you typically select website or tools to use?
- I use google majority of the time. It helps me find almost anything that I need. From telephone numbers to business or research information for my homework.
 
 Do you have any ideas, comments or feedback on improving the web 2.0 tool selection process?
-I would suggest removing more of the violent/fighting videos.

-  i submitted a resource for our current event

- i just helped contribute a few ideas. 

3.    How did you encourage and support your team members this week?
- I shared my ideas and I tried to keep in touch as much as possible. 

4.    Did the group have any questions or problems this week?
- I think we all have been really busy but we work well together for the most part.  

week 11 "technology and Supporting global Learning"

Student's in Zimbabwe has helped clean out a bus depot where eventually people who were standing around were helping them clean. Steve Myers, suggested traveling on a bus and make it a part of a public school curriculum. The "Traveling School" has integrated academic and personal growth. They have actually allowed the students to not just learn by their text books but to get a hands on learning and to apply what they have learned. For personal growth, students would be in groups and go around playing games while the other group would sit back and show their support by cheering their members on. They were focused not on winning or losing but by supporting eachother. Those excercises made it easier for students whow ere stuck on academic problems to solve their solutions because they could get the support they needed from their classmates. At the end, More than 30 percent of students on the world tour have returned independently back to Africa, Asia and India to perform more community service. It has demonstrated ways to increase global awareness and promote cultural understanding as well as stimulate international service.

Task_3-2 Reflection

  1. What roles did the members of your team have this week?
Melonie was our facilitator and we did not have a set role for anyone, it was open for everyones response and help.

 2. Given your role in the group this week, how did you contribute to group? I just jumped in and suggested we use our scenario from last week as I felt that recycling is a good topic. Students should learn the importance of recycling and helping our community. We need to teach them not just by reading them a story or letting them watch a short film about recycling but to get them involved and do hands on work with recycling that way they can appreciate their hard work and see the difference they have made.


3. What worked well this week?
What worked very well was that Mel just jumped right in to be the facilitator even if it was not her turn yet. Though we should just take initiative to help our group as she did.



 4. What will you do differently next time?  
Start early and get more involved!

Given your role in group this week, how did you contribute to your group?

I was responsible for giving a scenario based on Melonie’s SLO’s. I also found 3 internet skills children should learn.

What worked well this week?

Communication! We all did our parts and helped each other as best as we could.

What will you do differently next time?

I feel as long as we continue to communicate and support each other we will be fine and will be able to complete the tasks given. It  is definitely getting a little more challenging, but we just need to support each other.

Week 9 "Academic Software"

As a group we have come up with this website http://www.arcademics.com/ . It features educational games, language arts and math and also more activities for both teachers and students. Teachers can monitor student progress and see what level your student is at. You may also customize it to make it compatible with their capability. We also see that with the way technology is being integrated in classrooms, this app is available on the ipad. There are free and items that you may purchase. We feel this website/application would support students in a variety of ways and still keep them engaged with learning.

Task 1

Before this activity I have used a few of these tools. I was kind of familiar with twitter and google. Being that this is a technology class, I have a lot to get used to and I'm excited to continue learning about integrated lessons with technology. I believe a PLN would be valuable to a new teacher because technology today is growing faster than we know!

"Week 4 Current_Event"

The website we found interesting incorporates useful tools in which students in grades K-5 are able to comprehend the usage and have fun at the same time. Subjects such as math, is where these tools are helpful and much more integrated where students become engaged through their creativity, cognitively thinking skills and at the same time having fun displaying their work.

self introduction

Hi I'm Jasmine Apostadiro.

I am not really good with technology but my favorite gadget would have to be my cell phone. I have an iphone though I only know how to use the basic functions such as web and other social network apps. I like my phone because i can make contact, listen to my favorite music, and play games when I have down time.
 

This is the first time I am enrolled full time in online classes and I would not prefer it though I am expecting my first child and found it would be better on my time management. I like to work with group members as I feel its easier to get help. and I like to turn things in on time and I am pretty much organized. I just have to get used to using this blog and other communication websites that we will be using. I am hoping to have supporting "online" classmates through my first online classes and I will definately do my best to succeed.
